Did it the other way round last month, cannot imagine doing it in this order 😅 How was it?

As horrible as you can imagine.
I tried horseshoe bay to deep cove before and had to quit at Lynn Canyon, so I wanted to do it differently

Great job, special kudos for giving it a second go and finishing this time!

I tried HB to DC last summer, same result: feet were so beaten up I had to quit at Lynn Canyon :( I was in trail runners, but next time I’ll try boots. That trail isn’t just long, it’s very rough in places, so when you get tired it’s hard to avoid constantly kicking rocks.

Nice effort! How did you like the route? Would you rather have gone the other direction?
I always get a kick out of the casual default names from strava. Morning hike sounds like a walk around the park.

Walk in the park that never ends. Route was OK but the end was horrible as you can imagine. I've done it from the other direction and can't really say which is better.
The end truly sucks but I prefer going up gradually than down forever, I think.

Congratulations!!! I'm new to hiking, and I have this trail as a milestone when I become more experienced. I was wondering if you need any special equipment to complete this route.

Nice part is you can stop for a Starbucks at bottom of grouse gondola.

I wouldn't say "special" equipment, but having hiking poles for your arms to assist your legs makes it much more doable. Especially on the steep downhill sections. Its kuch safer to with poles.

Can you show the elevation profile? Did it start flat and then ended going up?
Nice work tho, very impressive!!

Cool, now you’ve done it once you’re ready to race. See you at Knee Knacker next July!

This is crazy, did you do it all in a single day?
7
u/Alakozam Aug 05 '25
Yes. I only do day hikes. Sometimes miserable day hikes. Sometimes amazing ones. Sometimes a mix of both.

I’m planning on trail running it on Saturday or Sunday this weekend, can I DM you some questions about current conditions?

u/Alakozam Aug 05 '25
If you'd like. Not much to say. No snow, couple spots for water, more if you want pond water but uh... I didn't. Flowing water only for me. Brothers creek bridge is out but you can easily cross without a bridge. I took the detour only to somehow be on the wrong side of the bridge anyways so I ignored the closure.

I wish! I’ve done the trail over many, many one day at a time days Anyway, if I read write you did it in just over 11 hours. Is that right? And you started around 6 a.m. What time did you finish?

u/Alakozam Aug 06 '25
That's moving time. With breaks it was 14:32hrs. Started about 5:50am and finished just after 8pm.

Can I ask how did you get home?

u/Alakozam Aug 06 '25
Wife picked me up. Chose a day she wasn't working and drove myself to the start and she took the car home. Came to get me after.

🫡💪🏼. Next time go up grouse then through Hanes valley for part of it 😎.

u/Alakozam Aug 05 '25
Nah. I've done Hanes from Lower Seymour before trying to do Crown but as I was putting on gaiters in the boulder field there was a mini avalanche between the bowl of Crown do I turned around. This was years ago though.
Ended up going back another time and did BCMC to Crown then took the gondola down after.

Nice! Next step is to turnaround and head back. That’s the course of the Vancouver 100.
