It's either a start high for negotiating situation, or its a "I know what I got" situation where the owner thinks the money they spent on it is recoupable at a much too high percentage.

seems like start high for negotiating. owner in the description says it is OBO & negotiable in-person

Also… 3.0L turbo diesel engine is not the best Sprinter motor. Inline 4 is way more reliable. Clearly trying to upsell their old van.

I mean true but at 280k if is all original is a good motor.

It states mileage is 455,000.

"""455,000 km (282,723 Miles) """???

It legit says 280k miles. Im in the UK everything is in miles here so i used the mileage metric he provided. He literally says 280k in the description... i really dont see the point in your comment.

But it has a new air filter and a new cabin air filter!

Its absurd to call it mint.

Some people think their stuff is worth so much because of the money they put into it!! Just saw a 1988 Ford E250 camper close to me that was also asking 20k$CAN and the inside is painted plywood. Its ridiculous! But everything is so expensive!

Extremely absud. Run away. Besides repairs on Mercedes would be enormous and at that amount of miles it’s begging to have an issue soon

15k USD for 250,000 miles. Not too crazy. What should it be?

u/ChemE-challenged 2d ago

10k USD for 210,000

I guess I misundersstood the value or something. It’s a 2018 and 15k does not seem like a lot for a Mercedes. I would just worry anout that amount of miles on a vehicle nearing 8 years old. If it has been serviced well and oil changes every 3-5000 miles maybe it’s in great condition. Traditionally speaking how many miles does a mercedes last.

P.S. I bought that sodge ram Rebel in 2022 so at that time it was only 7 years old. The value oof it today is still 20k or more. Look it up. It only has 75k miles and is well cared for.

I don’t know exactly unless I actually saw the vehicle and listened to it and test drove it. For me I couldn’t justify spending so much on a vehicle with that many miles. I guess it would be different if I was able to financially. I bought a 2016 Dodge Ram Rebel 4x4 off road specialty with 67k miles for 43,000. Then I added a warranty for bumper to bumper up to 150,000 miles. So I don’t know.

Well that's just under $15k USD. Not the worst, depending on the condition of the vehicle.

Why do they say "mileage" when listing the kilometers driven? Shouldn't it be "kilometerage"? :P

This has always bugged me. Kilometerage is valid and people do use it. Mileage is used irrespective of units in a lot of places, too. Just the fact that there isn't a term for how far a vehicle has traveled that doesn't sound clunky like "odometer reading".

u/Dry_Cricket_5423 2d ago

I find “odometer reading” slick and sexy wording. I’m joking but I’m also not, kilometerage vs odometer read, the choice is clear

2

u/Zehdarian 2d ago

Why don't we just start calling it odo' I feel like it rolls off the tongue well. "Hey what's the odo' on that?"

u/phungki 2d ago

Depends on the local market, if you can find a better one for less money then the decision should be easy.

Oh ya, just wanted to share

47

u/getmeoutofohio 2d ago

Hahaha “mint condition” with almost half a million miles on it

31

u/GentilQuebecois 2d ago

Try just over a quarter of a million miles.

u/khizoa 2d ago

They're from Ohio, cut them a little slack

-11

u/GentilQuebecois 2d ago

Last I checked, Ohio schools teaches how to read just fine.

10

u/Sewers_folly 2d ago

When did you last check? Their education has been slipping since 2010, and plummeting the last couple years.

0

u/GentilQuebecois 1d ago

Yo the extent people no longer know how to read? How will they read their bible?

1

u/enclavedzn 2d ago

It's nowhere close to half a million miles. What are you smoking?

-16

u/The_Ombudsman 2005 3500 Sprinter 158" 2d ago edited 2d ago

Reading is hard, innit?

Edit: For the brain trust downvoting my comment: The commentor above couldn't be bothered to read that the 455k value is in kilometers, and the mileage value is listed right next to it.

But yeah, celebrate illiteracy.

u/globalgreg 2d ago

I think the “brain trust” knew exactly what you were doing. Also, missing a detail is not the same as illiteracy. I suggest you go touch some grass, might help with whatever issue you’re having.

Been too busy working on other people's vans today. :P

2

u/questioning_4ever 2d ago

It's semantics, relax.

3

u/ultradip 2d ago

I'd never bother with an out of warranty Mercedes. Parts are expensive.

3

u/Espresso_Dad_89 2d ago

New power steering, new steering coloum, new windshield - somethings off

2

u/macksold 2d ago

It’s a good pitch, but that’s about it. All sales talk.

2

u/ofbaldmenandbikes 2d ago

If it's in km, should they say "Kilometreage is 455,000"?

2

u/JaxAustin 2d ago

Keep 20k USD in the bank for an engine and transmission swap. 100% it’s gonna need one.

2

u/midgaze 2d ago

MFs out there thinking their late-model Sprinters are going to age like the T1N did.

2

u/waveguy9 2d ago

455,000?!? HO LEEE SHIIIT! Good luck with that…service the seller is talking about.

2

u/kovado 2d ago

This is crazy! 14% battery on sleep mode and not even charging.

2

u/GnatGiant 1d ago

Why do they still call it mileage if they don't use miles?

6

u/CptGreat 2d ago edited 2d ago

Whats confusing, is it miles or kilometers?

Edit: A Sprinter can make around 400.000 to 800.000 km. 20.000cdn is around 12.000€.

In Germany, this is a normal price, maybe a bit too high. A new one starts at 40.000€.

2

u/ArcticDragon94 2d ago

I don’t know much about cars, and I’m not a van dweller yet, but 282,000 miles doesn’t sound “mint condition” to me… and brand new everything…? That’s not mint condition lol

2

u/DigitalN 2d ago

This is the Alberta marketplace experience in a nutshell

1

u/xristakiss88 2d ago

Wtf that's way too expensive. IN Greece (where car market is expensive all around) you can get a 3.0L 2017 319 sprinter with 250k km at 16000 euro

2

u/Zathail 2d ago

That is in Canada. In Euro it would be ~12000€

2

u/xristakiss88 2d ago

Sure but 1 year older with almost half the mileage and 26k Canadian dollars seems a better deal (and with just little bit of haggle you can get 2k off)

1

u/jodrellbank_pants 2d ago

The Demand is there, same as second hand none EV car prices in Europe, everyone knows electric cars are here to stay if we want them or not, so everyone is holding onto Petrol and diesel cars for as long as they can.

Same with Van everyone knows the demand is there for People living in them ATM, it will get a lot worse.

u/Princess_Fluffypants Insufferable spoiled hipster techie motorcycle adventure van 2d ago

Yes, that’s absurd.

Even half that would be generous.

0

u/enclavedzn 2d ago

It could be worth it, depending on what was done in the last 100k miles. I would expect an engine rebuild to be coming in the near future. And for those Americans looking at this, this is $14,500 USD - not $20,000.

0

u/jethro1999 2h ago

This sounds like a reasonable price, although "easily get 1.2-1.5 M miles" is obviously not true. Is it built out?
