Tips & Tricks Awning

Still enough work that I will probably only set up if staying a couple of days at a site. But allowed me to work outside during hot summer days.

I had a big Fiamma on my van and honestly never used it, so when it broke I threw it away and didn't replace it. I don't like the aesthetics of the awning anyway -- looks too "RV" for my taste.

I have an aluminate tarp that I can use as a heat shield in the desert that I would put up as an awning if I needed it, though I'm not sure what I would use as stakes like you have here.

What’s this aluminum tarp?

Aluminum Shade Cloth

They work pretty well at keeping heat away. We drape ours over our van when parked in the sun. Haven’t used it as a standalone shade next to the van, but may try it out

I’m working with a conversion shop who is doing a custom build for me right now. They advised against an awning because they are cumbersome, prone to breaking, and really don’t provide the shade you expect. I appreciate their candor.
