What If The Virginity Hit was a hit movie?

It was a movie starring Matt Bennett produced by Will Ferrell. It only made just over 600K on a two-million-dollar budget. I remember Matt talked about it on Ned's podcast that people were talking about him being the next Michael Crea but after that movie bombed, his phone stopped ringing. I started to think, what if the movie became a hit? Would Dirty Dan write episodes centered around Robbie? Would Matt stayed on the show? If not, would Nick hire another actor to play the nerd or have Sinjin join the friend group? Sinjin replacing Robbie would have been wild.

Depends on how big of a success it would’ve been. If it was just a commercial hit, then I don’t see his role changing all that much. But if it reached the pinnacle of pop culture success, like films such as Superbad, then I could see him leaving the series and transitioning into the R-rated landscape more. Nick would’ve probably written him off the show, since they can’t have kids making pop culture references about virginities with one of their stars.

For a Commercial Hit, he would have gotten other offers. I could probably see him stay another season at least though he loved the show, still does. Look at his DJ shows. I do agree if the movie had Superbad type success that Matt is gone. Nick frowns upon that, they allegedly canceled the show because of those X-rated parties though they produced Victoria's Fun-Sized movie.

Yeah, for sure, I agree. He would’ve gotten other offers. I meant more of his role in the Victorious show being the same. I don’t really see Nick ditching the investment they had with Justice to shoehorn Robbie in more because his actor was in a movie that did great in the theaters.

I basically see this movie being a commercial success, having the same impact Mean Creek had on Josh Peck’s career. While not really a commercial, it was a moderately successful independent film and had a tone suited for an audience way older than the projects Josh was typically in. But in retrospect, people really just reference that film whenever they’re mentioning all the other films Josh has done in his career.

I’d say Matt Bennett could play that Michael Cera role, and with his physical features and physique, mold it into something of his own.

The problem is he’s one of those actors that rarely get given a script that puts them at their element. This film is an example of this, also how he played Wolowitz’s brother in The Big Bang Theory. Judd Apatow had him for Bridesmaids, and he was given only one line, which was kind of a letdown because Apatow was one of the powerhouses of Superbad and The 40-Year-Old Virgin, so you’d think if anyone was going to transition Bennett into that Cera role, it would’ve been him.
