English 🇬🇧 olx scam

I listed a second-hand book for sale on OLX for 80 PLN. A “buyer” messaged me claiming they’d pay immediately via bank transfer. They sent me a link to a form that looked like an OLX and asked me to enter my personal information and bank account(which look exactly the same as the real bank website)

I thought it was part of their “secure payment” process. After I filled it in, I lost 1000pln from my account. I already blocked my pesel number and came to the bank, but they said they would reply to me in one week. Do you guys think that I should report my situation to the police, too?

Go to the police station and make a report immediately. They will cooperate with the bank, and maybe they can block the transfer. However, if they used different payment method or cashed out chances are low

You posted that on r/warsaw too. Stop humiliating yourself online. You’ve done enough

Congratulations!

Those scammers are everywhere. Besides if you had decent security package installed on your device, it would've been detected.

Your life lesson just costed you roughly 250 USD, that's a cheap lesson for life.

I suggest to educate yourself or invest in good security package that provide security across the internet.
