First WEC Race at COTA

As the title says, first Race…next weekend the race but feel like it’s not promoted well? No Map layout, schedule? Activities and things to do? I been to F1 race the past 3 years and by now I would know a lot more information…as of now I just know the location and Cars..when does the race even start? Lol

Thank you so much! Do you know if turn 12 bleacher will be open? That’s where I usually sit for F1

I went last year and to NASCAR in March. It all depends on how the amusement park construction is going. Last year, they put up a fence so you couldn't go past Turn 6. Really ticked me off. In March, you couldn't get anywhere near 19 and 20 because of construction. The F1 Turn 12 grandstand was open for NASCAR.

Most likely not. It wasn’t open last year and barring some crazy crowd surge it won’t be open this year.

Anyone know when the fireworks are? I read somewhere that it was Saturday night at 9, but that might have been a previous race.

Hello! Last year was my first time attending WEC and going again this year :) If you have the paddock pass (or whatever they call it this year) make sure you line up well ahead of the autograph event. I waited in line for about 30-45 minutes and was one of the first 100 people in (this was on race day), the line to get into the paddock ended up stretching well past the entire length of the paddock. They only provide a 30-minute meet and greet window for those that have this pass and if you want to see famous faces like Vale Rossi you will want to get in as early as possible.

I think the better option of seeing someone like Rossi is hanging out behind the garage and waiting for him to walk to/from the team hospitality setup in-between stints.

There's maybe 1/8th the weekend attendance of an F1 weekend at COTA, so there's not a lot of promotion going on, not a lot of anything as far as a pre-event thing goes.

The schedule is out there though, the map is too.

The seating is all open, the race starts at 1 I believe, there's a lot of manufacturer booths and some merchandise out there, an autograph session during the pitwalk, and a Mustang support race.

Other than that, its freestyle!
