I'm taking my behind-the-wheel driving test in a few weeks at Whittier because I heard it was a better spot compared to the other ones. Does anyone have any good tips I can keep note of so I pass on the first try? Thank you!

Hi neighbors!
I’m moving soon and looking for recommendations for move-out cleaning services in the Whittier / La Habra area. Ideally a business (or trusted independent cleaner) that offers a thorough service, including things like deep cleaning kitchens/bathrooms, wiping down baseboards, and cleaning windows.
If you’ve had a great experience with someone local, I’d really appreciate your referrals! 🙏
Thanks in advance!

Can someone give a rundown on everyone running for mayor?

Owner of Zen’s Tea in Uptown assaulted mayoral candidate Cano. He was arrested but released right away.

Just saw a motorcade of what looked to be a dui checkpoint on lambert by Laurel.

I've gone several times now around 9pm on a weekday (not Monday) because per their instagram and yelp profile, they should be there and they close at 10. Each time, they weren't there. Does anyone know their actual hours or a more reliable way of checking whether they'd be there before making the drive?

Where do you all go? Greater Whittier Regional Aquatic Center is closed for maintenance. Palm park has weird hours. La Mirada is the best but far.

Some skinny little tatted chick got all hard core rager on me. She was being super aggressive. Wanted me to get off the car. Stopped traffic thru at least 2 signals. I'm going to make a report. Anyone know her?

I’m still fairly new to Whittier and I am looking for recommendations for hair salons, specifically for an affordable woman’s haircut. Thank you in advance!

Hello! I’m currently looking to enroll my 3 year old in a half day preschool program here in Whittier to help prepare him for TK next year. Our family doesn’t qualify for the Head Start program so we’re hoping to find something affordable for half day. We live near uptown Whittier. Any recommendations would help. Thank you!

Curious how everyone’s rides have been going with the electric shuttles. Yesterday we took one to Rodeo 72, but when we tried to leave, we kept getting bumped back in the queue. At one point, we had been waiting 20 minutes, the ride was showing just 2 minutes away, and then it suddenly jumped back to over 20 minutes.

None of the residents I’ve talked to know when in the last few months they were put up, no one has reported any ticketing happening, and no letters from the city have been received explaining the new policy. They did all, however express a new found annoyance over the street parking that has gotten worse due to the apartments on Scott Ave between Whittier Blvd. and Cullen Rd. that either are limiting their residence members parking privileges in the lots, or there have been more break-ins, and so some residents just don’t want to park at the apartments.

Our cat Michael has been missing since last monday (AUG 4). We are by rincon drive and broadway if anyone has seen her. She’s small and friendly and we’re worried maybe someone picked her up or worse.

Saw this post on a Whittier FB group and wanted to share. Remember what happened to that young UCLA woman who got stabbed in a furniture store a few years ago? This reminded me of it. Apparently he sleeps on Comstock & Wardman. Stay vigilant and always help others you see in danger. Let's keep Whittier safe. Thank you.

Growing up, years 2008-2011, there used to be this street in mar vista that was so beautiful in Christmas time. It was mesmerizing i mean, there were beautiful sculptures, big lights, the people on this certain street really went all out!! I had never seen anything like it. As a kid it had my heart pumping super loud like crazy. Over time, i kept seeing less and less lights. it really was such a drag. I mean, NONE. It was to a point where no one did absolutely anything for Christmas. I searched all over the web for some sort of old blogs or pictures for YEARS afterwards but I come back with nothing. I would be so happy to just see a picture of it or something.
Some key parts I remember was when you wee entering the street, one of the trees had a warm light shaped almost like a shooting star, letting you know that was the street to turn on. Then either the first house or the second house to the right was possibly the most decorated. I specifically two HUGE nutcrackers in front of it. The rest of the street was extremely well lit and well decorated. It really was mind blowing. honestly, i miss it every year.
