Sup guys

Please read all of the following, even you vets. This is a new process and I want it to go over smooth.

What follows is what I have so far in terms of data. There are two reasons this step exists.

1. I want you guys to make sure that the data for your team is correct at least. If you have time, going through other people's entries and making sure they match what I have is also pretty important. Broken links, people forgetting to edit their forms, things like that.
2. This is your last chance to go through and point out people you think are over or under-powered. THERE IS A CORRECT WAY TO DO THIS:

If you think that a character is not correct for this tourney, make ONE (1) top level post per character and include both the username of the person who submitted them and a copy of the perma-link. This sends a notification to the submitter so they can defend them, and allows others to view information that was given on them. When you feel that this issue has been resolved AND does not require any changes from me on the data below, DELETE your top level comment (if it requires changes from me I'll let you know when it is ok to delete). After a few days (let's say tentatively on Thursday) I will go through the comments that still exist and make a decision on what hasn't been resolved.

Again, if you are bringing someone to tribunal, please delete your comment when you are done and be respectful

If you are brought to tribunal, be respectful and be prepared to defend your pick. Your options are as follows:

• Defend your position to the point that the person who brought it up agrees.
• Nerf or buff your character in some way by altering gear, powers, or where they come from in the story.
• Pick a new character that is agreed upon by the person who brought up the complaint and a few others (not recommended)
• Fail to come to a compromise, whereas I will make a ruling and likely replace your character with one of my choosing.

If there are any questions I will answer them as soon as I can, which will not be for a little while. However there are vets here who can handle it to some extent.

Maybe it's just me, but a tripod from War of the Worlds seems a bit overpowered for this. I don't see Spiderman being able to take one down, let alone the rest of the fighters on this list

Individually spiderman could definitely take a tripod down with at least 30% success. I feel the same for the others as well based how fast he is almost alone. A tripod would have a hell of a time trying to catch him, and once you factor in his spider senses, they'd have to be pretty relentless in their attacks. It's not like their super over powered, otherwise humans would have been totally annihilated, the main reason they were so powerful in the books were because we weren't prepared for them, and had pretty poor technology and weapons at the time. Spiderman would have a pretty easy time surviving late 19th century land weaponry.

Also, I posted my team up last week and didn't get any nays, so I assumed it was a go.

Yeah but we have jason v and Dio Brando and stuiff, pushing almost 7-8. Whats a couple more feet gonna hurt? It has very flexible tenticle like legs that it can use the crouch through areas if its still to big. And hmm idk, I guess thatd be up to you and /u/spacemage. Just a thought!

He is too weak - he has nothing that lets him fight against superhumans.

Almost everyone he fought was a super human though.

Only in terms of the game were they superhuman. I would probably call them peak-human or possibly meta-human. None of them were lifting train cars or dodging close-ranged machine gun fire.

That's the point of this post, giving everybody a chance to look at the roster and give their yays and nays. And again, I don't see Spiderman, or just about any contestant, being able to hurt or kill a tripod. In the books, the humans couldn't kill the Martian tripods without the use of large, ship-caliber weaponry, and even then they only managed to kill a few and let Britain get overrun until germs took out the Martians. I don't think anybody here (besides Thrax, I guess?) will be able to scratch a tripod before it hits them with a heat ray, which is a directional AoE weapon that I doubt Spiderman could dodge

I don't think it's stated explicitly in the books but I'd expect them to be somewhat cumbersome given their size. Spidey could definitely avoid the heat rays to some extent given his speed. As for taking them down he could do something like tie their legs together and trip them to wreck the head.
