“Great Balls of Fire? That’s a strange name for a tournament isn’t it Superman?”
“Well, first off Goku, it’s not a tournament. It’s a series of matches organized under a singular central theme or idea. They don’t have events like this back home?”
“Can’t say. How we usually organize these things is usually tournaments and sparring when we feel like it.”
“I could see that based on how you present yourself during outside ventures. Just be sure you can keep your composure during the broadcast”
“Ah, learn to have some fun sometime Kal. You don’t have to treat everything with absolute seriousness you know. You can take the time to cut loose and be yourself…”
“Which is why you’re picking your nose during a live broadcast?”
“Wait what?”
“Greetings everybody and welcome to a special presentation right here on r/whowouldwin. We are pleased to present to you for the first time ever: r/whowouldwin: ‘Great Balls Of Fire’. You know me as Superman and my partner next to me is Son Goku.”
“Hiya r/whowouldwin! This is already shaping to be quite an exciting night tonight, for we have seven matches lined up for all of you to enjoy. Some of the best fighters we can find are going to battle it out to prove who's the best and personally I can't wait.”
“I'm pretty excited too Son Goku. With these seven matches we have scheduled for the first ever Great Balls of Fire event, we hope that you watching at home is just as excited as we are. Now for the rundown of the card from top to bottom from our special host for the evening…”
Thanks Goku and Superman. This special presentation is one of what's going to be a monthly set of special posts on r/whowouldwin. These posts are debate threads where you can debate on the outcome of a variety of fights that I lay out for you to debate, and you can vote on the results of each match. After a week or so of voting and debating, whomever gets the most votes at the end of the voting period will win the match. The matches as I laid out is available in the replies for you to decide the winner.
The main thing that will set this debate thread apart is the effect that the results may have on the characters in these posts. Storylines will be written for each of the fights that occur in these posts, and the user votes can swing that story from one way or another based on the results. I will write the stories around the results generated by these posts. With all of that said, here's the card for r/whowouldwin’s first ever Great Balls of Fire PPV.
Bayonetta vs Chariot du Nord
Since her professional debut, Bayonetta has gone on to become one of the most dangerous and dominant entities ever to step foot in the arena. She has defeated some of the roster's best fighters and has in general been at the top of the mountain here in r/WWW. However, another witch has recently challenged Bayonetta in the last few weeks, and unlike any challenge before her has surprising gotten to the head of Bayonetta. Chariot du Nord has shown that she has not been afraid of the Umbra Witch and has shown herself willing to come to blows with her to prove she is the better witch of the two. Their stories surprisingly parallel each other, but in this fight, only one will prove themselves to be the superior witch in our main event of the evening. Will the Umbra Witch continue her reign of terror? Or will it be dethroned by a Chariot of Fire?
Akko Kagari vs Maka Albarn: Last Woman Standing Match
In recent weeks, the rivalry between the students of Luna Nova Academy and the DWMA has intensified. The two sides has continued a sustained campaign of antagonising each other for being witches and witch hunters. In the front line of this conflict is the energetic new student of Luna Nova, Akko Kagari and the DWMA’s star student Maka Albarn. Things between these two specifically didn't really kick off until the events of Money in the Bank, when Maka cost Akko the shot at grabbing the briefcase and with it, ensuring a second season for Little Witch Academia. Akko has shown how much she disagreed with what had happened by attacking Maka at every turn possible. Their brawls have gotten to the point where a normal match couldn't be enough to satisfy their feud, so for this match at Great Balls Of Fire, they face each other in a Last Woman Standing match; whomever cannot answer a ten count loses, end of story. With each of their respective student body banned from ringside (except for Soul in Maka’s case as he is her weapon), and Akko bringing the Shiny Rod with her, which of these two will go on to be the Last Woman Standing?
Since Akko's respect thread is WIP, the "Shiny Rod" portion of Ursula's respect thread can also apply to Akko for magic feats
Little Mac vs Ryu
Little Mac has enjoyed a long run of victories when he came from the WVBA, readily knocking out all challengers that come his way. In an effort to find new challengers for him to face, his trainer Doc Louis had issued an open challenge for anyone to answer starting tonight at Great Balls Of Fire. The one problem with that however, is that his first challenger in this open challenge is the Tireless Wanderer, Ryu himself. Doc Louis hesitates to have Little Mac face Ryu, but Little Mac accepts Ryu’s challenge for Great Balls of Fire. Will Little Mac’s Open challenge be over before it begins, or will the Bruiser from the Bronx bruise up the challenge of Ryu?
Cloud Strife vs Ike: Match 1 of a Best of 7 Series
These two men has been clashing sword ever since they stepped foot in this arena. Constantly trying to one up each other, they have crossed the line from friendly competition to a full scale rivalry between each other. The Radiant Hero, Ike has challenged Cloud to a “friendly” series of matches to see who is the better swordsman. Cloud begrudgingly accepts and a Best of Seven series is set, with the first match to happen at Great Balls of Fire. Will the first point go to the Buster Sword wielder or the leader of the Greil Mercenaries?
