When I read the book for the first time, this is where I felt an emotional rollercoaster.
Despair: will she heal?
Hope: At least someone is caring, hiding her, helping her

Yeah he is not a particularly complex character (his story is cool though) but a kind soul in a sea of shit people is a breath of fresh air
