i know youre the type of guy to bring up politics at thanksgiving

u/PotatoRecipe 10d ago
I don’t celebrate thanksgiving you half-mast ape. Not everyone is from North America. Kindly explode.

u/Fishy_Soc 10d ago
Family dinner, thanksgiving, Christmas. You get the idea. Also why are you so rude for no reason? I didn’t do anything to warrant such hostility.

My apologies.

Hm? I was just pointing out that he brung up politics out of nowhere. I do not believe I came off with a rude tone.

sorry if this sounds extra pretentious but it's brought up, not brung up

To be fair, given this was on ifunny, both of the people in this pic are probably like, 15 or so.

why is 1⅓ proper it's ugly as fuck. 4/3 is fewer numbers and clearer
70
u/NatriX49 11d ago
Only in this simple case. Now go for something like 152/17 and look at the proper one 8 16/17
24
u/GX_Giorgio074 11d ago
well idk about you but in my school they make us leave the whole fraction because it's easier to do, if you want the decimal use a calculator
5
u/FerretOnReddit 10d ago
Exactly, making 9/2 into a proper fraction is just an unnecessary extra step when you can easily make it into a decimal in your head.
5
u/FerretOnReddit 10d ago
I'd still prefer 152/17 rather than a proper fraction. And improper fractions are what you're more likely gonna use anyway, that or decimals.
-2
u/Grand_Protector_Dark 10d ago
152/17 is still better. It describes the number as precisely as it needs to.
19
u/CreeperSlimePig 10d ago
Improper fractions are more useful for math but worse for real life because you can't tell the approximate value at a glance. You can't immediately tell 39/4 is between 9 and 10 unless you do the math, but you can with 9 3/4.
