Comic Discussion Sorry, guys. (Ultimate Wolverine #9 Spoilers) Spoiler

It seems that Condon took Scott for himself and included him in the Wolverine book in which all the other characters are treated horribly. So he is neither the White King to Emma's White Queen nor Ultimate Daredevil.

I don't have high hopes personally, especially because this issue is about a suicide mission involving the forced insertion of mutants into Sentinels and solicits for future issues have hinted that everyone in the Opposition dies.

Comic Discussion Thoughts on Rogue’s current team of X-men?

Upvotes

Personally, I love it. I love they have character-specific issues (I.e. the Vig and Gambit), it gives the story some time to breathe. The dialogue is funny, even if the overall plot is a bit confusing.

I also really enjoy that we’re finally getting to explore some of Remy’s past in Louisiana, we’ve had plenty of stories about him and the thieves guild but not a whole lot about him being a mutant in red-state Louisiana.

Movie/TV Discussion What would be your dream X-Men film?

Upvotes

So, due to Doomsday coming up and while rewatching the X-Men movies, I've been pondering a lot about what the best MCU X-Men film could / should be. My dream scenario in my head feels partly bloated but I do kinda enjoy it, but I'm curious: what would you guys pitch as your "perfect X-Men film" scenario? Whether it is line-up(s), villain(s), plot, visuals, inspirations... What do you guys think would be the best things for a fun X-Men film?

To pitch quickly my idea in mind: when it comes to the MCU, I'd love for it to be a trilogy set in Earth-828 (the universe in which the new Fantastic Four film is set) culminating in the Dark Phoenix saga for the third one, which is very inspired by Claremont. My reason why I want it in the Earth-828 is that it just makes a lot of sense for me: in the new FF film, the Fantastic Four are clearly treated as "larger-than-life", lauded superheroes who are respected by the community. I think it would be a neat contrast with the X-Men who would be doubted and distrusted by the larger community, and it would create an interesting "edge" (not in a grimdark sense) for this 60s inspired-world and it would get the X-Men back to their Civil Rights, 70s roots. It might be a me thing, though!

The line-up would be the O5 + Storm (all highschool age in the first film), Wolverine, Emma and Xavier ; with Cyclops and Jean being the main characters. Mr. Sinister would be the main villain for the first one and stay a recurring character, just like Magneto and the Brotherhood.

And finally, main inspirations (when it comes to the visuals that is, since I'd love it to be somewhat accurate to comics) I have three point of references: French New Wave, queer coming-of-age stories like My Home Private Idaho, Hair, Gregg Araki movies and more "classical" coming-of-age films (The Holdovers, Dead Poets Society, Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off...)

Anyways, here's my pitch! Curious to see what would you guys think! (And mods, feel free to remove this if it doesn't fit the rules)

Other [Article] Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has been trying to tell his definitive Cable story for the past 35 years, but he and Marvel keep breaking up

36 years ago, Marvel Comics asked a 22-year-old artist to create a new leader for a flagging X-Men spin-off team. Although he wasn't the writer, he created a weathered cyborg soldier from the future carrying a secret from the past named Cable, with writer Louise Simonson. Cable quickly became one of the key pillars in the early '90s X-Men glow-up and one of the quickest comics-to-adaptation transitions, as within two years, he was a key part of X-Men: The Animated Series. And while he became more well-known for his other major Marvel creation in Deadpool, Liefeld has carried a Cable story in his head since his creation, intended to be the definitive Cable story.

In this week's Marvel Matters, I dive into the complicated decades-long history of Cable's unpublished story as told by Rob Liefeld.

In 2000, Rob Liefeld got close to telling his Cable story with an announced series called Cable: First Contact. That project fell through; however, some illustrations from it were in a 2004 X-Force series with Fabien Nicieza, but Liefeld's definitive Cable story remained untold. In 2023, Marvel re-announced Cable: First Contact as part of a wave of new stories by Liefeld and Marvel.

"This is a story I’ve wanted to tell for 33 years," Liefeld wrote on Instagram in 2023. "I’m finally getting the chance to talk of Cable’s adventures in early mutant history!"

Read on for what happened: Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld has been trying to tell his definitive Cable story for the past 35 years, but he and Marvel keep breaking up [Marvel Matters] | Popverse

Question Question about how Logan ends up in Madripoor during his first solo run

I’m currently reading Marvel Presents: Wolverine as part of my X-Men reading order. I’m backtracking a bit since I got caught up reading Inferno.

Logan makes references to meeting a man named Chapel who tells him to “save the tiger”, thus ending up in Madripoor. Could anyone remind me the issue where this happens? I’ve tried to be fairly exhaustive during the reading order but I tend to forget small details here & there. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Question Is Grant Morrison’s New X-Men run self-contained?

I’m looking to get more into the collabs between Morrison and Quietly. I know they had a run on X-Men in the early 2000s but I was wondering if it can function within itself as a stand alone run.

Movie/TV Discussion Trask in the timeline

Post image
2 Upvotes

I know I shouldn't question the timeline of the X-Men movies but, if in the dystopian future of DAYS OF A FUTURE PAST it is said that Trask was killed by Mystique in the Vietnam War peace accords (1973) why in the original X-MEN TRILOGY (2000s) that comes before the future of DAYS OF A FUTURE PAST(2023) Trask is still alive, does not have dwarfism and is a black man?
